U.N. Jesus

Created in 1961 by artist Henry Anderson.

“Prince of Peace” is “one of Harry Anderson’s most popular prints. Prince of Peace depicts Jesus Christ knocking on the United Nations building in New York City and shows Christ’s interest in the affairs of the nations. As the Prince of Peace, only He is able to bring true peace to all nations.”

this is freaking hilarious.

GUY FIERI IS AMERICA’S  KRUSTY THE CLOWN reposted from sethmad.com

BY SETH MADEJ

Chef Guy Fieri rocketed to a sad, modern version of superstardom thanks to Food Network and despite his continuing devotion to the music of Sammy Hagar. He’s now deep into his return trajectory, plunging through the selloutosphere, spraying a trail of Ed Hardy flames, his last traces of respectability burned away. Fieri has become a real-life version of the ultimate celebrity marketing strumpet, The Simpsons Krusty the Clown. As Krusty is to comedy, Guy is to food — a living cartoon, a face to be plastered on any product presented to him alongside a slow-cooker full of coin, a hollow symbol of grub for which quality is no object. Screaming conservative headlines:

Weekly Standard: Obama’s Staff Uses Autopen to Sign ‘Fiscal Cliff’ Legislation. NO SIGNING CEREMONY!

Fox News: OBAMA SIGNS FISCAL CRISIS DEAL FROM HAWAII WITH AUTOPEN

From Weekly Standard resident moron Daniel Halper:

President Barack Obama’s staff used an autopen (a machine that mimics one’s signature) to sign the “fiscal cliff” legislation that Congress passed on New Year’s Day. There was no ceremony or photo-op for the autopen bill signing.

The pool reporter sends along a link to a “Department of Justice legal brief on the subject” of bills being signed by the autopen. Here’s the link, which says, according to the memo from a deputy assistant attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, that the practice is legally fine in theory.

George W. Bush, though, never signed a bill with an autopen. Obama has now done it 3 times.

The tradition of Presidents and their families adorning the White House and their Christmas trees for public consumption is a strange, albeit fascinating one. The whole Christmas decorating extravaganza that occurs on Pennsylvania Avenue each year tends to shed light on the taste and character of the “ladies” themselves.

A Survivalist’s Guide to the Holidays

by kara on December 24, 2012

It’s Christmastime! Gather round ye happy families, like it or not, however dysfunctional ye may be! Let us remember the true meaning of any American holiday: It’s an opportunity to pound home a political lesson about why We Are Good and They Are Bad.

Should culture war break out around the dinner table, you can take several tactics. You can accept that you will give yourself a series of mini-strokes trying to argue with them, and confrontation is a Republican tactic. Studies show that conservatives rely almost entirely on lying, cheating, stealing, conflation, and denial of facts because their brains are wired up that way – wired for fear and hate. Accept that no amount of factual evidence will get them to change their mind. They did not come to their current belief system with scrupulous analysis and study. They didn’t weigh the evidence and decide that the Republican position is most supported by the facts. No matter how well informed you are, no matter how logical your reasoning, it is very unlikely that you will get through to them. Happily, much of their idiocy is easily debunked, although facts don’t carry much weight with teatards, since they come from the radical communist Rachel Maddow and the Left-handed-Marxist-Trotskyist-Muslim-Gangnam-Style Daily Kos. Tell them you got your rebuttals from Matt Drudge.

Republicans most important issues of the day, that are – of course –  not really important at all, so here are your talking points:

Blowhole

Wayne LaPierre thinks that there were 26 kids dead. Not 20 kids and 6 adults trying to protect them. Disengaged, clueless, disrespectful, in his own reality. You would think that the scale of the tragedy would have penetrated, but no. He didn’t even bother to count the numbers.

It’s jaw-dropping – the pretend-pious, blatantly perverted disconnected fake logic.  His starting point is – defend at all cost their position of gun possession. Everything and anything has to start with accommodate that …… never mind the classroom full of little bodies riddled with gunshot holes, and the slain courageous teachers who deserve life one thousand times more than Wayne LaPierre, who will go his grave having done NOTHING of substance, having helped no one. If you’re like me, you love to call or email companies, governors, congressmen, airlines and complain. I am going to make the most annoying old coot.  Be a coot and demand that one of the biggest hotel chains in the world — Wyndham Hotels, owners of Best Western, Days Inn, Super 8 and Ramada — get out of bed with the NRA, and stop being their corporate “affiliate”.
