Smart Girl Alert!
Last week, after a little more than two hours and 200 words and many microphone adjustments, an adorable smarty-pants in a bumble-bee striped shirt named Lori Anne Madison, beat about 21 other spellers and was crowned the 34th Prince William County Spelling Bee champion. The win qualifies the pixie-haired tyke for the prestigious and inadvertently hilarious Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on June 1st. The weird part? Lori Anne is SIX years old. SIX. The puckish pre-pre-pre-teen will be the youngest contestant ever to compete at the National Spelling Bee. And its least nerdy.
