Stephen Fincher (R-TN), representing Tennessee\u2019s 8th congressional district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Amidst the heartwarming congressional debate over just how deeply Jesus wants food stamps to be cut, one man stands out in a way that if he were a Demoncrat, Republicans would be ghazi-ing him nightly: Tennessee Bible-humper Stephen Fincher, an\u00a0obscure Tennessee backbencher\u00a0who seeks to slash the\u00a0Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, aka &#8220;food stamps&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>While the Senate passed a farm bill that did as little damage as possible to SNAP, while still aiding farmers, &#8220;the House&#8221; took a wrecking ball to it.\u00a0As House members discussed slashing the budget for the Farm Bill, which funds\u00a0SNAP, Stephen Fincher \u00a0took umbrage with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.c-spanvideo.org\/clip\/4451551\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">some Democrats<\/span><\/a>, <\/strong>who cited Jesus Christ\u2019s call to care for \u201cthe least of these\u201d when describing the government\u2019s need to assist the hungry.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Fincher argued against feeding the hungry by\u00a0quoting by quoting Jesus\u2019s message of love and indifference in\u00a0Bible verse \u2013 2 Thessalonians 3:10:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFor even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(<em>&#8220;the poor will always be with us, and they will always be lazy takers and we hates them, we do.<\/em>\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>2 Thessalonians is a convenient tool for those who want to justify fucking over the poor. As many religious bloggers\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.religiondispatches.org\/dispatches\/candacechellew-hodge\/7118\/gop_lawmaker_botches_bible_to_punish_poor\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">have pointed ou<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">t<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, \u00a02 Thessalonians was actually referring to ancient Christians who had stopped working in anticipation of Jesus\u2019 Second Coming. The verse is concerned with correcting a theological misunderstanding (i.e., don\u2019t just wait around for Jesus, live an active faith), NOT CASTING ASPERSIONS ON THE POOR. The words that Fincher bastardizes are about how certain Christians stopped working because of the imminence of the Second Coming&#8230;.which was not imminent at all.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Armed with an array of misquoted proverbs and quotes from the Holy Bible, Congressman Fincher is pressing his fight to dramatically curtail funding for SNAP \u2014 relied upon by 47 million Americans for some or all of their daily sustenance.\u00a0NONETHELESS, Stephen Fincher WON his Tennessee district, passing his fat ass off as a Tea Partier who hates big government&#8230;..just not when it\u2019s lining his own silken pocket (see \u00a0Charity Cases<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><\/strong>, below). In 2012, this craven\u00a0thief won re-election with 68.3 percent of the vote. Fincher\u00a0<em>is one of the largest recipients of federal farm subsidie<\/em>s, according to the\u00a0Environmental Working Group. In one year alone, he was given\u00a0<strong>nearly $560,000<\/strong> in commodity subsidies\u00a0&#8212; government cash payments used by farmers to supplement their income that affect the cost and supply of crops.<\/p>\n<p>Fincher receives these millions from the cotton program, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data. Yep, Stephen Fincher is a cotton farmer&#8230;. On the House Agriculture Committee. &#8230;And while cutting food assistance, the bill he voted for provides \u00a0&#8220;new subsidies for peanut, cotton and rice farmers&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s one weird trick, Steve!&#8230;No, no that&#8217;s not right, a &#8220;trick&#8221; what an honest whore does to make money. This son-of-a-cheney bastard is no honest whore, but a completely craven, satan-worshipping fuckface.\u00a0Do the poor have to report their hunger gains to the IRSGhazzi on Form 8949?.<\/p>\n<p>Math Break: SNAP benefits of $35\/week for 10 years means that Fincher&#8217;s farm subsidy could have fed 489 people for that decade.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23161\" title=\"fincher-on-the-farm\" src=\"http:\/\/teensleuth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/fincher-on-the-farm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"457\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teensleuth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/fincher-on-the-farm.jpg 571w, https:\/\/teensleuth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/fincher-on-the-farm-300x249.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Stephen Fincher: so accustomed to being on the government dole, he doesn&#8217;t even realize that it&#8217;s welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Fincher has been flat-out labeled one of<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizensforethics.org\/mostcorrupt\/entry\/stephen-fincher\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> the most corrupt members of congress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><\/strong> He claimed to have almost no assets at the start of his campaign, and has since filed multiple inconsistent financial disclosure forms, revealing significantly greater assets.\u00a0Naturally, he is among\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the<\/span><\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/politicians-who-made-the-most-money-from-the-nra-2012-9?op=1\"> list of 15\u00a0politicians <\/a><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">who\u00a0receive\u00a0the most money from the NRA<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>. <\/strong>The NRA&#8217;s &#8220;Political Victory Fund&#8221; endorsed Fincher in 2o12.\u00a0The NRA&#8217;s Chairman Chris W. Cox stated:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Stephen Fincher has brought his life-lon<span style=\"color: #000000;\">g\u00a0support of the Second Amendment to Co<\/span>ngress since his election in 2012. He has earned an &#8220;A&#8221; rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Driving Stephen Fincher\u2019s sloppy exegesis is the old conservative trope that only lazy parasites rely on food stamps, fatsos who mooch off the government and refuse to work. Stephen Fincher\u00a0<em>knows <\/em>that the majority of the country\u2019s 47 million food stamp recipients are children or the elderly, and many are employed. A\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fns.usda.gov\/ora\/MENU\/Published\/snap\/FILES\/Participation\/2011CharacteristicsSummary.pdf\">2012 report from the USDA<\/a><\/strong> found that 45 percent of SNAP recipients were under 18 years of age, nearly 9 percent were age 60 or older, and more than 40 percent lived in households with earnings.<\/p>\n<p>Fincher\u2019s misguided, scripture-bastardizing, Bible-thumping ignores the plight of America\u2019s\u00a08.9 million\u201c working poor&#8221;, a massive group that includes retail and food service workers\u00a0who, despite working full-time 40 hours a week for booming industries, often only make around $7.25 an hour, or $15,000 a year -far, far below the federal poverty threshold of\u00a0$23,550 for a family of four. This\u00a0leaves many working families with no choice but to apply for food stamps\u00a0<em>so that their children can subsist. <\/em>Americans with disabilities, the elderly and\u00a0military veterans,\u00a0are burdened with any number of maladies that make full-time work difficult, if not impossible. His children\/future serial killers certainly look well fed.<\/p>\n<p>Doesn&#8217;t Fincher&#8217;s heart break, like normal people, thinking of hard working people, the elderly and veterans who have to face the personal indignity of having to use food stamps?\u00a0Using scripture to accuse millions of Americans of being lazy freeloaders and\u00a0concocting dehumanizing theology to punish them is\u00a0spiritually bankrupt. And from a gentleman who is $9 million in the hole off of Federal monies? That is just&#8230;.words fail me.<\/p>\n<p>The abuse of logic transpiring among denialist takers-vs.-other-takers makes about as much sense as my Mom telling me to finish what&#8217;s on my plate while &#8220;thinking of all the starving children in Pennsyltucky.&#8221; \u00a0I&#8217;m like, &#8220;No Mom. If I am to think of all the starving children there, I will take this plate with its Stouffer&#8217;s frozen lasagna and canned peas and run it up \u00a0to that other part of the state, maybe while I&#8217;m in horse country I will barter for that pony you won&#8217;t buy me in return.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I just remember something about the sheep and the goats and the camels going through the eyes of needles and there being no room for interpretation in that eternal damnation is what you get if you do not help the poor according Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus didn&#8217;t <em>specifically tell us what the Federal Government&#8217;s role in helping the poor<\/em> is because:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0The Federal Government is made up of people we elect to represent us and therefore are bound to the same moral constructs as the people who elected them.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0There is not enough money in private charities and individuals who have enough to help in the world to take care of all the victims of Capitalism&#8217;s Diabolical disease. Taxation is the only way to ensure that those who have medical needs get their medicine, and food, before they starve, get sick and die.<\/p>\n<p>Yup, Stephen Fincher of the great state of Tennessee is the guy to talk to Poors about the value of hard work&#8230;Armed with his proverbs and quotes from the Holy Bible, and a sack full of government cash.
