What is up with this? Do they, like, not understand the basics of copyright?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The grand old tradition started back in the 80&#8217;s when Ronald Reagan bravely invoked &#8220;Born in the U.S.A.&#8221;, which was no bueno to Mr. Springsteen.<\/p>\n<p>Bobby McFerrin demanded George H.W. Bush stop using &#8220;Don&#8217;t Worry, Be Happy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Dole used &#8220;Dole Man,&#8221; a \u00a0clever reworking of &#8220;Soul Man&#8221; and Isaac Hayes was no bueno.<\/p>\n<p>George W. Bush used Orleans&#8217; &#8220;Still The One&#8221;; composer\/Rep. John Hall, D-NY demands it stop.<\/p>\n<p>John McCain just couldn&#8217;t get the hang of copyright law.John Mellencamp demanded John McCain cease using &#8220;Our Country&#8221;; \u00a0Tom Petty demanded John McCain stop using &#8220;I Won&#8217;t Back Down&#8221;. Jackson Browne sued the Ohio Republican Party for using the song &#8220;Running on Empty&#8221; in a campaign ad for John McCain.<\/p>\n<p>Monstrous Minority Whip Eric Cantor was told to cease and desist by Aerosmith for his use of &#8220;Back in the Saddle&#8221; to declare that &#8220;The House GOP is back&#8221; thanks to the party&#8217;s unanimous opposition to the stimulus.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago musician who composed the classic rock song \u201cEye of the Tiger\u201d sued GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich for using the song without permission.<\/p>\n<p>2012 GOP Presidential candidates Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich, were all sued for\u00a0patent infringement related to some of their activities on Facebook by a Medical Doctor communication website EveryMD.com,<\/p>\n<p>Sharron Angle was sued\u00a0by Las Vegas-based Righthaven LLC who accused the Nevada Republican Senate nominee\/psychopath of violating copyright laws by posting two newspapers stories in their entirety on her campaign website.<\/p>\n<p>David Byrne, onetime singer of Talking Heads, sued former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist for using &#8220;Road to Nowhere&#8221; in a campaign ad.<\/p>\n<p>Singer\/rapper K&#8217;Naan invoked trademark law when he asked Romney&#8217;s campaign to stop using the song &#8220;Wavin&#8217; Flag&#8221; at Romney&#8217;s events.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Heart&#8221; ladies demanded Sarah Palin\u2019s cease and desist in using their song &#8220;Barracuda&#8221;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now I ask.
