Hell hath no fury like a hypocritically closeted, pandering Republican scorned. Today, illegal immigration battle axe Sheriff Paul Babeu – from the the blistering hellhole of Arizona – stepped down as a co-chairman of Mitt Romney’s campaign in the state amid accusations that he threatened to deport a former Mexican boyfriend, when the man refused to keep quiet about their relationship.

Baldie Babeu – one of those “rising stars” in the Republican Party – is known for his hard-line stance against illegal immigration –  appearing on Fox News and at the Conservative Political Action Conference last week where he talked about the federal government’s “assault” on Arizona for suing over the racist immigration law SB 1070. Babeu, 43, has been serving as co-chair for Mitt Romney’s state election committee and had been stumping for Romney in recent months.

The Sherrif’s boyfriend – a 34-year-old Mexican man identified only as “Jose” –  said that he and Babeu began the affair while he was working for the Sheriff’s congressional campaign, and that it continued for 4 years, until Jose ended the relationship after suspecting Babeu of cheating. And, because nothing says love like a threat of deportation, Jose alleges that after refusing to sign a hush agreement about his relationship with Mr. Babeu, the sheriff and his lawyer tried to intimidate him with threats of deportation. Jose is not in the country illegally.

In a press conference today, Mr. Babeu admitted to a romantic relationship with Jose, and to being gay, but denied that he had threatened to deport him. He further denied ever believing that Jose was in the country without legal status, and that he does not  “have the authority to deport anyone” (that has never stopped a bigot sherrif in Arizona before). He told reporters he did not break any laws, casting the allegations as attempts to derail his congressional campaign. The Romney campaign – of course -quickly accepted the gay man’s resignation. Mormon law is no bueno with the gays.

The Romney campaign was quick to force him out as soon as they found out he was a gay, yet, this poor schmuck still supports Romney. The Romney camp, however, refuses to reciprocatee the support because they are bigots who despise his personal life style – hence his resignation, and them being okay with it….

The good Sheriff said on his campaign website that he wants to be judged on his 20 years of service in the military, with two deployments – including one in Iraq, and by the “value” he has brought to his community, ignoring the fact that had the Military known he was gay, they would have done exactly what Romney did….boot his gay ass out the door. Poor schmuck – trying to find his place. He’s not going to find comfort in the Republican party unless he admits his sexual debauchery is a result of deviant behavior, and that he is willing to be converted to a straight person (ala Marcus Bachmann). He needs to come over to the dark side with us libtards! We like the gays and the Mexicans!

An interesting aside that no one has mentioned:  Babeu served as Headmaster and later as Executive Director of the DeSisto School in Stockbridge, Massachusetts from 1999-2001.  The DeSisto School was a private, “therapeutic” boarding school with tuition over $70,000. The school closed in 2005 following years of scandal, allegations of abuse and neglect, law suits for breach of contract and fraud, and allegations by state authorities that the school endangered the health and safety of its students. A dorm parent was sentenced to four to five years in state prison for sexually molesting six DeSisto students. The Cult Awareness Network, Inc. placed the DeSisto School on its list of cults it kept records on.
