I’ll Give You Something to Cry About

Considering it’s extremely cost-prohibitive to emigrate to Canada, your only option is to live under the policies Trump has outlined as part of his primary campaign. Let’s talk about these.

Refamiliarize yourselves with wire hangers, ladies.

When I was a teenager I worked for the Mondale campaign to defeat Ronald Reagan. While attending the Mondale concession party in NYC (I was sad but I did not cry), an older lady had a t-shirt with a wire hanger with an X through it. I stupidly didn’t know what it meant and I had to ask her. What she told me was hair raising.I could show you much more disturbing photos, but they will be too upsetting for you.

Frontline-1992

On April 5, 1992, several hundred thousand including my sister and my mom marched on Washington in support of abortion rights. It was one of the largest marches on Washington up until that point. The March was timed with the Supreme Court’s consideration of a Pennsylvania law that placed further restrictions on abortion. The case was known as Planned Parenthood vs. Casey. The March for Women’s Lives, held in 2005 2004, surpassed the size of the 1992 march, drawing more than a million people, and brought together a broad coalition of reproductive rights and justice groups working to improve the lives of women across the reproductive spectrum. If your mom didn’t go, then read about it at least. This was called a  “revolution”.

Are you okay with this?

Because my mom isn’t. She marched on Washington to protect your right to a safe. legal abortion 40 years ago. And Ingeborg. Is. Not. Happy.

bryan_sign-700x568-672x372

You have always had access to safe, legal abortions. Twenty-three Planned Parenthood centers closed in 2015, according to numbers provided by STOPP International, a project of American Life League. The analysis found that the number of Planned Parenthood facilities in the United States dropped from 668 to 645 in 2015. A detailed report will be released in January 2016. Tens of millions of women reply on PP. Women poorer than you, who can’t resort to a private doctor for abortions out for cervical cancer, breast cancer. And even though Donald Trump supports Planned Parenthood and thinks they have done a lot of good, he said he would still defund it faster than you can say, “use your own damn $200, you can’t prove it is mine”

You like guys these guys, right?

Well, under a Trump regime, the world will begin a slow, toxic meltdown never before witnessed in human history.

“Environmental Protection, what they do is a disgrace. Every week they come out with new regulations.” — Trump on Fox News Sunday

Those bears can’t wait another 4 years for us to stop the madness of destroying our planet. These bears don’t care about your fucking revolution. Without the federal Environmental Protection Agency, many of the natural and manmade disasters Americans face could be even more devastating. Think Flint, Michigan, without any plan to address it or global warming gone haywire.

Cry for the bears, crazy lady!

How Stuff Works:

During the next four years, the new president will likely nominate not only Scalia’s replacement but also an additional 3 new justices. Since 1971, the average age of retirement for a Supreme Court justice has been just under 79 years. Ginsburg is 83, Kennedy is 80, and Breyer will be 78 in mid-August.

Here is a handy chart. Print it out and put it in you wallet:

supreme-court-justices
The unexpected yet fortunate death of Antonin Scalia split the Supreme Court between four conservative justices appointed by Republican presidents (Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Kennedy) and four liberal justices appointed by Democratic presidents (Ginsburg, Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor). The Republican Senate, in an unprecedented stance, has refused to call a vote on President Obama’s nominee to replace Scalia.

“The totally unexpected loss of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is a massive setback for the Conservative movement and our COUNTRY!”— Trump on Twitter

The new justices will set the direction of the Supreme Court and the values that guide it for the next generation – yours and your future children. Scalia, after all, was on the court for 30 fucking years before he finally died. Thomas has been on the court for 25 years and is still only 68.

Okay, you know the numbers, but you still seem to not fully grasp their central importance to our work. Indeed, only at 11:15pm on the first day of the Democratic Convention was the status of the Supreme Court briefly mentioned. Many of Bernie’s supporters appear willing to jettison the Court because of their overwhelming distress over Hillary Clinton’s nomination.

Supreme Court anointed  this maniac President in a clusterfuck so abject, so traumatizing, I may never get over it.

That event led to this event:

Unknown-1 Unknown civilianmap1

A majority of maniacs in robes caused this. CRY OVER THIS!!!!

Now, the Supreme Court meets only six months a year. The media dutifully reports the decisions, debates the meaning for a day or two and then moves on. We’re not exposed to the cumulative impact, nor the long-term consequences. The Supreme Court can enable or disable everything and anything we have worked for. In the last decade the justices have made it much harder to challenge wealth and power, to nurture the weak and assist the poor, to extend social justice to minorities, to reduce violence, stop harassment and discrimination, and defend the right to vote.

In 2011 the jackals dismissed a gender discrimination suit by thousands of women across the nation against Walmart, cold tossing out more than 40 years of class action jurisprudence by ruling that class members must prove they have suffered the same injury, not just a violation under the same law. The vote: 5-4.

Justice. In 2009 the fuckfaces on the court ruled that prisoners have no constitutional right to DNA testing even though at the time such testing had already played a role in 240 exonerations, according to the Innocence Project. In 103 of those cases, the testing also identified the actual perpetrator.

The Supreme Court’s most infamous and widely discussed intervention occurred in 2010 when it overturned a corporate campaign spending ban first advanced by America’s greatest, most bad-ass Republican ever, Teddy Roosevelt. And ghost Teddy Roosevelt is. NOT. HAPPY.

.troosevelt1

The infamous Citizens United decision allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts of money, much of it “dark money,” hidden from public scrutiny.  Citizens United changed the nature of American democracy. In the first five years after the decision $1 billion poured into super PACs, $600 million of which came from just 195 donors and their spouses. Between 2006, before the Court decision, and 2014, after the decision, independent expenditures increased 25-fold. In 2014 the Court allowed unlimited individual contributions. Both decisions were by a 5-4 vote. Dissenting Justice Breyer predicted, “If the court in Citizens United opened a door today’s decision may well open a floodgate.”

You should really do a lot of reading on what the Supreme Court had wrought, which will absolutely stun you, to make concrete the crucial impact of the court on a progressive future.

Yes, that is something worthy of slapping your hand over your face in dismay and horror and sobbing about. No one wants to see guns at the coffee shop.

What about heinous Islamaphobia Do we cry about that?

Islamophobia-900
It’s no secret that ever since Trump’s particular brand of Islamophobia has been introduced to the public, there’s been a noticeable upswing in anti-mosque attacks and anti-Islam violence. Whether it’s leaving severed pigs’ heads or wrapping doorknobs in bacon, 2015 is the worst year of anti-mosque sentiment on record. Let’s give a shit about this.

REALLY, Stylish Lady in Red? You re really doing this?

“Look at those cameras, how they’re turned!” he screamed. “They never, ever turn. They will never show how big the crowd is unless there’s a protester because they’re the most dishonest people you’ll ever see.” — Trump at a Louisiana rally

In case you haven’t noticed, Trump kind of openly despises the media. And while we do have freedom of the press in America, there are plenty of ways Trump has found ways to lawfully suppress the press, like excluding certain members of the press from his conferences.

This is something to tear your hair out over. Somebody help this lady.

Sorry, your gay friends get no more wedding cake.

“If I’m elected I would be very strong in putting certain judges on the bench that maybe could change things, but they have a long way to go. At some point we have to get back down to business. But there is no question about it. And most people feel this way. They have ruled on it. I wish it was done by the states. I don’t like the way they ruled. I disagree with the Supreme Court in that it should be a states’ rights issue. — Trump on Fox News

In California, some of us worked really hard to prevent Prop 8 from passing, then worked harder to get it overturned. When you vote the Green Party in November, think about this:

Cry, ladies, cry over the disappointment over Hillary Clinton winning the nomination, you sick sons of bitches.

Hey, people of color, hope you like even more beat downs

“Police are the most mistreated people in this country.” — Trump to a GOP debate audience

Trump has actually put his love of police into action, using them to throw out protesters of his increasingly rowdy rallies. Even though Black Lives Matter has made police brutality a cornerstone of its organizing, and the police killed 1,134 black youth in 2015, Trump has promised to “give power back to the police” because of “rampant” crime.

Don’t care because you don’t have kids of your own?

“We must keep education local and under parental control. Unelected Washington bureaucrats shouldn’t determine what is best for our children.” — Trump on the Department of Education

The Department of Education is just — bye. This will matter to you a few years down the line when you’re thinking about having kids of your own

Poor People and Sick People and Poor Sick People

Andrew

The American Care Act which you will barely remember life before, was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2012 by a 5-4 vote when Justice Roberts, surprisingly, voted in favor. But the Court rejected the Act’s Medicaid expansion mandate. Almost 8 million people lack health insurance as a result.

“We have a disaster called the Big Lie — Obamacare.” Trump at his announcement

You are the first generation to have healthcare as a right. I can not tell you how huge that is. I spent my entire 20’s waffling between being PETRIFIED of getting sick and/or losing my health insurance. You will know when a Trump repeals it or hacks it up.

Hope you enjoy your measles!

measlesrash

Here’s a concerning combination — Trump is an anti-vaxxer. Now, when common diseases that we’ve worked to fight like measles come back, we won’t have Obamacare to help us either. Like having to worry about female reproductive rights, us Olds thought worrying about things like measles, that our more intelligent forebears worked so hard to eradicate for us, was a thing of the distant past. When Dr. Peebles and Dr. Enders shared the Nobel Prize in 1954 for their research on cultivating the polio virus that led to the development of a vaccination for the measles, they wouldn’t have foreseen that in 2016, this would be an issue.  AND YET, After a YUUUUGE measles outbreak last year that started at Disneyland and steamrolle through  seven other states, as well as Canada and Mexico – or, as the head of the California State Assembly’s GOP put it, a “one-time incident”  – the nation finally re-reached an uneasy consensus on a matter you’d have we thought was settled decades ago: Vaccines actually work, and kids should get them. Unless you are a commenter on Free Republic, and know that that measles outbreak (and all infectious disease outbreaks where the root cause is weakening of herd immunity) was actually caused by ill-eagle immigrants. I’m not even joking.Because furriners are dirty and disease-ridden, dontchaknow. And brown. Mostly.

So you think “we will have to elect Trump so that in 4 years we can elect a real progressive“?

1329859148

Sorry, this kid doesn’t have “4 years” of his government assistance being terminated under President Trump. Or maybe you think he ought to be puling himself up by his tiny bootstraps. He lives in McDowell County, WV, where coal mining companies own the people, their credit and their futures, 49.4% of the children live in poverty. Municipal water systems serve a tiny percentage of the population and one of the four does not deliver potable water. 67% of the households have no wastewater treatment, allowing 314,000 gallons of untreated waste per day to enter streams and rivers. Many are drinking untreated groundwater. 60% of the land in McDowell is owned by absentee corporations that do not contribute to the tax base, yet spend millions in lobbying to defeat legislation that would clean up the air, water and flood problems. Not your problem, right?

“I’m going to bring jobs back— You will even be surprised, Chuck, you will be very surprised. So that we won’t even have to be talking about the minimum wage.” — Trump to Chuck Todd.

Trump has every intention of keeping the minimum wage at $7.25 an hour, which means that a person trying to get ahead in the United States can expect an income of $13,926.83 after taxes for an entire year. While some cities and states like California are joining the “Fight for $15” minimum wages and Canada is experimenting with basic income, that will not happen in the good ole USA under President Trump.

CRY FOR THAT KID, LADY WITH NICE HAIRDO AND MAKEUP AND EARRINGS.

I’ve experienced trauma in my life and I NEVER cried like this over anything.

The world will hate us again.

GWANGJU, SOUTH KOREA - MAY 15: South Korean protesters burn a U.S. flag during an anti-American demonstration near a South Korean Air Force base May 15, 2005 in Gwangju, South Korea. BernieTearsForget backpacking across Europe and being met by friendly locals. We had a reprieve from the searing hat from 2008 – now, but I just spent 2 week in Iceland and …well, let’s just say, they don’t understand what your problem is. and why anyone would have an issue with hillary Clinton with Donald Trymp in the wings. You may think the young folks in Europe would be down with you cause, but they are. not. Aside from a best friendship with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump is already pretty bad at making friends of international leaders. I landed in Amsterdam on the eve we started bombing the shit out of Iraq. Driving from the airport, the canal houses were draped in banners reading “YANKEES GO HOME”. A kind welcoming I don’t care to repeat.

Joking aside, the consequences to poor people, immigrants, LGBTQ people, people of color, women, Muslims and more could be disastrous. WAKE UP, SHEEPLE. You aren’t just being “ridiculous”, you are being harmful to other people.

Look at this NERD working fro children’s rights!! Not a rubber wristband or button in sight!
