Brotherly Love

Live from Post Racial Americam,  we have this delightful little holiday song about “Dead, dead Michael Brown, Baddest thug in the whole damn town,” which was performed at an Elks Lodge in Glendale, California, following a charity golf event on Dec. 15, according to TMZ. The dinner was organized by former LAPD officer Joe Myers, and was attended by between 50 and 60 people, roughly half of whom were retired law enforcement officers.

TMZ’s source for the recording is identified only as someone at the event who “videotaped it because they were offended by the song and upset no one was objecting.” You know, a thug (there’s your lede, Mr. O’Reilly). the song put lyrics for the Jim Croce classic, a model of satirical creativity:

Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin’
With a badass policeman

And he’s bad, bad Michael Brown
Baddest thug in the whole damn town
Badder than old King Kong
Meaner than a junkyard dog

Two men took to fightin’
And Michael punched in through the door
And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese
His brain was splattered on the floor

Deadest man in the whole damn town

His whole life’s long gone
Deader than a roadkill dog

I was too grossed out to watch the video, but you can find it on TMZ.

Here is a guy who offered this robust defense of the songwriter’s songcraft:

“How can I dictate what he says in a song?” Myers goes on, “This is America. We can say what we want. This is a free America.”*

*Well, except for Michael Brown, whose disrepectful words to Wilson seems at this point to be the catalyst for the escalating angry confrontation- apparently that pesky first amendment doesn’t apply when you dis a cop. Of course now he’s not free to say much of anything because he’s dead. Nor is Eric Garner, whose attempt to argue with a cop got conveiently labeled “resisting arrest”. Of course he’s no longer free to say much of anything because he’s dead too. This asshole doesn’t know it, but another hallmark of freedom is being able to walk down the street without getting tased, shot, assaulted, or harassed for being black.

A trustee of the Elks lodge told TMZ that the dinner was not an official Elks event, but that as a member of the lodge, Myers had the right to and that “many” members of the lodge were upset by the song. The trustee explained, “It’s deplorable and inappropriate and the Lodge will take disciplinary action against [Fishell] and possibly the people who organized this event.”

If you are a sportsplayer with an opinion on any of this stuffe, you better shut up. Even the mayor of New York is not allowed to say what he wants or there’s blood on his hands for every bad thing that happens within his city.  Actually, it seems that the ONLY people that are allowed to say what they want are asshole cops and their douchebag minstrels.

Let us, during this holiday season, reach out to tell these yahoos exactly what we think of them and their song (notice there is something called an EXALTED RULER):
